The IDA was launched on 14 May 1991 at a meeting of around 200 people at the Royal Society of Arts, with a speech by consumer journalist Nick Ross. It was a few years in the planning, and the early years were described in the IDA’s 1996 Annual Report (read it here).

Sadly, the IDA has been overtaken by the retirement of a generation, and the emergence of new digital specialisms which cover much the same ground.
